Great place

Just moved to DC. The building is in a great area. You cannot beat the location. Incredible. Excellent amenities, supportive and hard working staff. I love the place.

Best of NW DC

I've been a resident for over a decade and love it. The apartments are gorgeous and the building's staff and engineers are all friendly. There's an on site valet/laundromat that handles signature required and oversized mail deliveries, so you never have to worry about an item being returned as undeliverable if you're not home. The Quebec House provides peace of mind and convenience for busy DC residents. The Cleveland Park metro station (red line) is a five-minute walk and the zoo is less than a mile away. There's also a surplus of great restaurants in the area for carry out or delivery. Ideal location and living conditions. Five stars.

Great place

After looking for many places, Quebec House Apartments was the best. All utilities included and free parking - plus the studios are super big! Extremely happy.

Twenty-one years and counting!

I moved here from a townhouse in Cathedral Heights thinking it would be a temporary stay whilst I attended grad school. Well, it's been 21 years, and I have have yet to find a good enough reason to move. My professional life is challenging enough without having to waste time on the phone with plumbers, roofers, electricians, etc., when something needs fixing. I love the fact that when something needs attending to all I have to do is call and it's sorted. I've always found staff to be courteous and attentive. The location is ideal for those who run or bicycle -- the park is fantastic -- and there's the onsite gym or several athletic clubs nearby. The residents are of all ages and cultures, which makes for a really nice mix. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great location, friendly service, and plenty of amenties.

Great Views, Best Location, While Glove Service

We're coming up on our 5th year of living here at Quebec House. Nestled close to Rock Creek Park its so easy to access the paths or a block in the other direction to Cleveland Park Metro. What makes living hear a step above is the staff. Everyone is extremely helpful with quick responses to minor repairs and very receptive to suggestions to improve the residents' experience. They really keep the buildings and grounds clean. Huge!

Great staff, location, & facilities

I have lived at Quebec House for more than 2 years and have had a great experience the whole time. The staff is wonderful: friendly, helpful, and very responsive. Whenever I have a problem it has been taken care of quickly. The facilities here are great and the apartments well laid out. I would recommend the Quebec House without hesitation.

Good place to be, with one complaint

Overall I am happy here. One problem though is with the wall between me and my neighbor. I am told the walls are made of brick which prevents noise from traveling, but around the closet the noise comes right through. So when my neighbor comes in and if he's talking, the sound comes right through. I find it really annoying if he has friends over late at night. It's not so much they are too noisy, but the wall around the closet area seems to be very thin. I might ask to move later this summer.

Superior Service

We are very happy with the location and the building. It's a really nice place that we get complements on all the time by our guests. We are very comfortable in all respects and are especially pleased with superior service. Staff is amazing and goes out of their way to tend to our every wish, which frequently goes far beyond what one can expect.

Don't Move Here

Don't move in here. There must be a better places for you. I currently live in the South Building of Quebec House on the 4th Floor and have very little positive things to say about my experience there. Thank God I will be moving out soon. Let me start with the parking situation. You must absolutely be home by 7pm each night to find parking as there is no assigned parking. If you happen to be coming home late for some unforeseen reason and park your car in an undesignated area versus parking blocks away and walking home management keeps a stack of DC parking tickets and will slap you with a $100 ticket. Next let's discuss the roaches. There is an infestation from time to time and management will send someone to put down poison but not much else. I had do extermination measures myself to finally rid myself of the problem and I am a very clean person. Since we are on the subject of pest, let's talk now about the mice. The building is very old so common sense would tell you the when turning over apartments to check for holes in the walls that will allow mice into living spaces. When I saw the mice in my apartment management actually told me yes it's because the building is old and we don't always cement and patch up the wall space around appliances. Finally lets talk about neighbors that want to kill you and themselves with cigarette smoke. I asked to be moved to a different apartment twice as my place smelled so bad from the neighbors smoking that my visitors thought I had developed the habit. Managements response was we can't move you unless you sign a new lease and well we can't gurantee that your new neighbors will not be smokers. So I had to buy air filter system. From the exterior it looks like a well maintained building with decent management. My advice look harder elsewhere. If you do decide to stay here just remember Quebec House has so many tenants that individual issues are treated carelessly. I have nothing personal against management staff but Living there

Really a nice place to live

I've lived here for about a year and it's been a good experience. The apartments are old, but have been well maintained. The staff members are all friendly. You really can't beat the location, and I feel very safe here. The value is pretty good, and I appreciate that they offer free parking (though it's not a guarantee that you can always find a parking spot). What are the downsides? As other reviewers have mentioned, the walls are so thin-I can hear my neighbors engaging in a regular conversation. It's even worse when you have inconsiderate neighbors (unfortunately they're everywhere you go). I didn't have the luxury of being in DC when I was apartment hunting, and so I was looking for a relatively safe option-this is it. It's not too expensive, it's safe, it's in a great location, the staff are great, and the building is in pretty good shape. You can't go wrong with Quebec House.

Love the Neighborhood and the Place

Have lived in Quebec House for a good while now. I love the quiet dead-end street and they do a wonderful job with the landscaping. My apartment is lovely, reasonable for this area, and the management is pretty responsive, both with maintenance and other issues. I love just stepping out my door and going for a walk.

Location, History and Nature...Who could ask for more?

I am a long time resident of the Quebec House going on 13 years now in QNorth. I came after having sold my condo in DuPont Circle and thought I would be here for just a minute in time. Well time has passed and I am still here. I love the QH because it has given me a sense of continuity and my building remains quiet. I think the larger building has more young adults. There are friends who have been here literally since the building was built. i love the quality of the residents. To me that has made all of the difference. There are some very intelligent residents here that have made all the difference in my life. I have made a home here. I was lucky to get an apartment that over looks the park and it is a blessing within itself. Even if I didn't have a stick of furniture...which unfortunately I do, it is an absolutely beautiful place to live. It is even featured in the well known tome...Washington's Best Addresses. To be able to see the seasons change from my living room and bedroom in all of its natural beauty, splendor and simplicity is sheer bliss. The rent, while I didn't quite catch it at prehistoric levels...smile...it remains the best bargain going for this area I am told. I know the micro mini apartments are the rage here in DC but these apartments are SPACIOUS and BEAUTIFUL. The staff is amazing, courteous, responsive and to get a good morning and good evening as you leave and reenter and they know you by name tells me they really understand old world service. I wish to a degree management understood the treasure they have in this building and when repairs are made use only the best materials it would repay itself in dividends. My only complaint would be paint that chips when you touch it ghastly! Other than that, I love my apart---no I love my home.

Best Location in DC - some problems

+ Rock Creek Park in the backyard, miles of trails, wildlife - quiet + 5 minute walk to Metro, bars, shopping, lots of buses + The staff = great - They let people run Airbnb hotels out of their apartments, lots of strangers in building - Someone thought it would be a good idea to plant crepe myrtles in front of the building. What was once a beautiful sunny apartment is now a dark, musty cave with a tree blocking the window - They ruined the rooftop deck. It used to be spacious and open, now there is only room for a few people, the furniture is uncomfortable, and there is no view - The parking is limited, and they let people from the synagogue across the street park there when their parking lot is full

Wonderful Place to Live

I've lived here almost a year and I will be so sad to leave! If I could continue to live here I would, but work is taking me out of the area. Friendly staff who are very responsive, perfect location that's off the beaten path, right by Rock Creek Park, and free parking. Thanks for a great year, Quebec House!

Great Building, a few small negatives

Great building- can't beat the location, free parking, and amenities. Having just lived in the building for under a year, I am extremely happy with where I am living. That being said Quebec House does suffer from very thing walls. Neighbors seem to be very aware of this and my hallway is quite quiet. My only other complaint would be the regular night time front desk attendant in the south building. This woman has rubbed many of my guests the wrong way and is not the most pleasant person to deal with. That being said all of the other staff are wonderful. Including maintenance, other front desk attendants, and the leasing office.

Love the location, staff and apartment - hate the noise

I have lived here off an on for 16 years - so obviously I love it. The staff make you feel at home and the maintenance is very prompt. BUT, the floors and walls are very thin. You can hear entire conversations of your next door neighbors - I have had both wonderful considerate neighbors, and terrible neighbors that have their TV on at full volume even at 11 PM. I can hear the entire life of the person who lives above me as the person stomps around their apartment. I am not sure how much the management enforces the 80% carpet rule. On top of it all, I can hear neighbors snoring at night....... So I can even tell when they are asleep!

Great Place to Live. By Far, Best Value Around

I've lived here almost four years and, every time I search around for other apts, I can't find anything that comes close to Quebec House for the money. Great lay-out for studio, allows you to really maximize space. The best part of living here is the friendly staff and extremely responsive maintenance team. Any issues I've had have promptly been repaired same-day, which is unlike anywhere else I've lived. The staff also keep the building looking clean and lovely. Roof deck is a great added bonus and you can't beat location. My only complaint is about the noise level -- you can hear anything and everything your neighbors are doing at all hours of the day. Also, the building tends to run hot -- even in the winter -- and air conditioning is only available when it's turned on in the summer. Probably not an issue for most people, but as someone who is constantly hot, it makes for some warm days.

Great Building

Fantastic location that is close to Metro and shops but parking is almost always available and convenient. The staff is pretty professional. I've read other reviews that the building is noisy. I live in a studio surrounded by apartments above, below, and on both sides. I only occasionally hear some talking or laughing. Some residents slam their doors. But for the most part, it's not an issue. If you want to hear nothing, look for a SFH house in the middle of nowhere... The only this I would really change is removing the built-in cutting board from the counter top. Ick.

City & Nature: The Best of Both Worlds

The location of QH is really special, as it is right along Connecticut Avenue, the red line of the Metro (Cleveland Park), AND right next to Rock Creek Park. We enjoy the ease of getting around in the city, but we are also so lucky that our window looks out into the park and that we can take hikes whenever we want. It can sometimes be noisy within the building, but you do not get any noise from street traffic (at least in the North Building). The staff is excellent, and whenever you have a problem with your room they will quickly fix it. I highly recommend QH!

Great location; impeccably maintained

Location, on subway, superb maintenance, free parking, great staff and fairly reasonable for all you get in amenities (party room, gym, classes, business office, laundry room). I cannot rave enough about the building and all that it offers.

You get what you pay for...

Quebec house was the most affordable place in Cleveland park we could find. Not much has needed maintenance in our apartment, but when it does the staff is addresses it in a timely manner. However, we had an incident where the elevators were broken. It took longer than promised to fix them and we didn't receive any discount for the inconvenience. If you pay full rent for the amenities all amenities should function properly. If not, rent should be discounted accordingly. Also, this last snow storm made parking a complete disaster. Parking is already an issue. They do not have enough spaces for the residents to park in already. People left their cars the spots literally until all the snow melted. This made it very difficult for the commuters who do need the cars to park. Maintenance for snow removal was sub par. There's an interesting mix of tenants... People who have been here since the 60s literally who pay a fraction of what newer tenants pay.

Great Value

I have lived here for 2.5 years, love my studio, great amenities for the price, staff are excellent with the exception of one very rude front desk attendant. My only complaint is that I consistently have issues with mice and the staff say it's taken care of but its not so I am considering moving. Majority of the staff are great, residents are friendly, great value, very safe.

Awesome with limits

This is the best place ever in DC! The best, as long as you don't own too many things, don't mind spending hours trying to get your laundry done, are okay hearing everything your neighbors do in the bathroom, do not enjoy having your own parking spot for free, or having animals at home. Quebec dings are a thing so trade in that Benz. I really miss having a dog. Or a cat. Anything.

Nice but noisy!

There are some great things about this place - great views, nice roof tops and gyms, 24 hour desk, prompt maintenance, and proximity to meto and Rock Creek Park. However, the big con is inconsiderate, noisy neighbors that management doesn't seem to care to do anything about (if you can even get them to respond to your email in the first place). You can hear absolutely everything in these apartments, so if your upstairs neighbor enjoys walking around in heels for a hour at 6:30 every morning, expect to also be awake.

Nice place but unfriendly residents

I've lived here for about a month now. The building is really nice and has great amenities. The rooftop is beautiful but has no lighting so it's pitch black after sunset. This has to be the most unfriendly place I have ever lived. With the exception of very few, the people that live here blatantly ignore my hellos, never smile, and seem very judgemental. Because of this, I often feel uncomfortable leaving my apartment to enjoy the amenities. If you plan on moving here, you'll love the building and staff but don't expect to make any friends.

Great location

Moved in 2 months ago. Got a new job and needed a place in DC for during the week. Leasing and management staff are very helpful. Helpfulness of desk staff varies by person, but I don't really need much. They do seem attentive to who is coming in and out. My apartment is bright and spacious for a studio; within my apartment, it's quiet. The gym and monthly breakfasts are nice. Coffee is available, but not until 7 a.m., and I leave before that, but it's a nice touch. Laundry machines are available when I need them and well kept. Easy and quick walk to Metro and bus. I'm really glad I found Quebec House.

Very comfortable, perfect for busy people

I've lived here for three years of law school, and it's been great. My studio is quite large, and I've never felt crowded. The front desk staff are lovely and helpful, maintenance requests are handled quickly, and the amenities (two business centers) are ideal for people who need a space to work outside their apartment. The gyms in both buildings are nice too, especially in the north building where there is a separate room for yoga/free weights. It's also extremely easy to get around even if you don't have a car. The complex is just down the block from the Cleveland Park Metro and the H2/3/4 and L2 buses.

Enjoy living here

We've lived here for over two years and I really like it; I think the staff is great, location is nice- Cleveland Park isn't the most exciting place, but it's pretty and quiet, we love being so close to the park, and we also love the gym in the building! One caveat is that we were told we would have a pool soon and it turns out that management announced that prior to obtaining a permit. Hopefully, we will have a pool soon, but even without it, the Quebec House is a great place to live!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I apologize for the pool timing confusion! Best in CP

Quebec House is a fantastic place to live. The Cleveland Park neighborhood is a good mix of urban and residential. The QH buildings are tucked away on a quiet street and parking for residents and guests is almost never a problem. The concierges are friendly. THere's a small gym in each building and the laundry rooms are huge. I've never had to wait to use a machine. The studio apartments have a great layout, allowing for a slightly separated bedroom space. The closets are really big. Sometimes you can hear other residents through the walls, but it's not that bad. I only hear it maybe once or twice a week if someone is singing in the shower or has a lots of friends over. My only actual complaint about QH is the glass cutting boards built into the kitchen countertops. Ew. If QH is worried about people damaging their counters, they should present each resident with a cutting board as a welcome gift when they move in.

We are very happy here

This is the first time in our long rental history that we have nothing to complain about: nice unit overlooking the park, competitive price, great neighborhood for all of our needs, proximity to anywhere we want to go, nice staff goes out of their way to please us with various extras. Our rent went up just 0.5% last year - unheard of in this area. We shopped around quite a bit, but we could not find anything better in quality or value. No pets allowed. Hardly any children. Neighbors are mostly young professionals. Some diversity.

Really Great Place to Live

I have been here 5 years and it has been a good experience. The staff are great and responsive and the building is very well maintained. The location is perfect next to Rock Creek Park if you like outdoors. The noise level can sometimes be loud, which is the only disadvantage. I have been talking with the management for several years about putting in bike racks and have never gotten a clear answer as to why they won't do it, but hopefully as more residents bike they will understand the importance of this amentity.

Great location close to rock creek park, metro, and good bars/restaurants. Off-street parking lot (first-come first-serve) is nice, while garage parking is a bit expensive. Friendly and prompt staff, but building is not smoke-free (and smoke smell can fill kitchen area from unit(s) below).

Overall this is a wonderful apartment community, however, noise is a constant issue here due to extremely thin walls. For example, I can hear when my neighbor sneezes. The pros include extremely prompt maintenance, friendly front desk personnel, and location.

10 Years and Counting

I found my apartment at Quebec House 10 years ago. It's a 1 bedroom and just the right amount of space for me. The staff is friendly and maintenance requests are resolved promptly. I enjoy the hardwood floors, lots of windows, and my view of the park.

Quebec House=Great Place to Live

Regarding the features at the Quebec House, the Amenities, Maintenance, Staff, Value and location are all EXCELLENT. In my three years in the Quebec House I have been extremely happy. It is the best rental building I have ever lived in. However, there is limited parking due to the location in relation to the number of residents at the Quebec House. Additionally, the building is beautiful, but the walls are very thin so you can hear most everything through one's neighbors are doing. Overall though, it is a wonderful place to live.
